Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Focus Jungle ("Focus Jungle," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, mobile experience, and related services, including our browser extension (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up we collect the email address and display name you provide. If you sign in with a third-party provider (such as Google), we receive your email and basic profile fields from that provider. Anonymous accounts are identified only by an opaque ID generated by our authentication provider.
Usage data you create
Focus Jungle is a productivity tool, so we store the activity you generate inside the app. This includes focus sessions, focus tags, daily plans, plant collection, friends, achievements, leaderboard entries, focus battle activity, settings, and other content you choose to save.
Payment information
Subscriptions and coin purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers. Stripe shares limited information with us (such as the last four digits, card brand, country, and a transaction identifier) so we can show you order history and manage your subscription.
Technical and device data
When you use the Service we automatically receive log data such as your IP address, device type, browser, operating system, timezone, page timestamps, and crash diagnostics. We use this to keep the Service working and to detect abuse.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and local storage for authentication, to remember your preferences (theme, sound volume, last-used view), and for limited analytics. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings; doing so will sign you out and reset client-side preferences.
Browser extension data
If you install the Focus Jungle browser extension, the extension stores only the data needed to run browser-native focus timers and distraction blocking. This can include your Focus Jungle sign-in session, timer state, cached focus tags and timer presets, whether website blocking is enabled, and the blocked-domain list you choose to create.
The extension uses your sign-in session to sync focus-session lifecycle data with Focus Jungle and to call our existing focus-session API routes. It does not sell data, transmit your browsing history, or write XP, coins, stats, plants, leaderboard data, or reward state directly. Website blocking is limited to the domains you configure and is enforced only while a focus session with blocking enabled is active.
2. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and authenticate sign-ins.
- To provide the core features of the Service, including focus sessions, analytics, plants, friends, leaderboards, and focus battles.
- To process payments, manage subscriptions, and prevent fraudulent transactions.
- To maintain security, debug issues, and improve performance and reliability.
- To sync browser-extension focus timers, enforce user-configured website blocking during active sessions, and keep Focus Jungle reward logic server-controlled.
- To communicate with you about service changes, security notices, and (where you have opted in) product updates.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and protect users from abuse.
3. How we share information
We share your information only in the limited cases below:
- Service providers. We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting), Stripe (payments), and similar infrastructure providers. They process data only to provide services to us.
- Other users. Your display name, avatar, level, achievements, and items you make public (for example through friends, leaderboards, or focus battles) are visible to other users of the Service. You can adjust profile visibility from the in-app privacy settings.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Focus Jungle, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If Focus Jungle is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change of control and material changes in handling.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data retention
We keep account and usage data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records (for example, payment records for tax and accounting purposes) or where retention is necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
5. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
- Update your profile and privacy preferences inside the app.
- Remove browser-extension authentication data by signing out of the extension. You can remove all local extension data by clearing extension storage in Chrome or uninstalling the extension.
- Delete your account from the in-app settings, which removes your stored data subject to the retention rules above.
- Email us at [email protected] for access, correction, export, or deletion requests we cannot satisfy automatically.
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, and regular review) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International users
Focus Jungle is operated from the United States and we use providers that store and process data in the United States and other countries. By using the Service you consent to the transfer of your information to these jurisdictions, which may have different data protection laws than your own.
8. Children
Focus Jungle is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, if appropriate, notify you in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
